What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is used to treat tendinopathy as well as difficult-to-heal ligament injuries by sending strong energy pulses to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. Shockwave Therapy is especially effective for the following:
- Frozen shoulder
- Shoulder capusilitis
- Achilles tendinitis
- Heel Spurs (plantar fasciitis)
- Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
- Scar tissues
- Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper’s Knee)
- Bursitis
